As amazing as it may seem, the gentleman in the photographs at the left is
moving his RV trailer by using a handheld remote control unit which
communicates by radio signal with a receiver unit mounted inside the RV.
He has positive and precise control of the movement and is able to
position
the RV right up and onto the trailer ball of his towing vehicle. Note him
negotiating the tight passage through the brick gate entrance with ease,
safety and convenience.

The Handheld Remote
At the left is the handheld remote radio control unit where all
directional movement of your RV can be controlled simply by the touch of
your finger. It's no larger than a TV remote. The graphical diagram on the
face of the remote makes precise maneuvering through tight spaces a snap,
even when you have just inches to spare. No more parking headaches when
you use the Powrtouch.
This is as easy as it gets!

How does all of this work?
The best thing to do is to look at the equipment all laid out on the
floor.
Here's what everything is and what it does.
The handheld remote radio control unit is in white just to the bottom of
the left drive motor.
The motors are 4,000 RPM geared down to approximately 60 RPM on the drive
rollers. The motors are completely sealed against rain, snow, road salt
and other elements.
The black box is the receiver unit and where all of the electronics are
contained. This is mounted inside the RV and out of the elements. It has a
thin black aerial wire for an antenna about 1' long.
The white bar at the top spans the width
of the trailer chassis holding the drive units in alignment to the trailer
wheels.
The object at the upper left in yellow packaging is the equivalent of a
lug wrench used for engaging the drive units against the tires prior to
movement of the trailer. The motors drives are disengaged once the trailer
is hooked to the towing vehicle.
The red object to the right of the black box is the master power switch
(circuit interrupt). It has a removable key for safety. When not in use,
power to the unit is switched off with this key.
Mounting hardware is shown in the center of the picture. All hardware is
corrosive resistant zinc plating for long life and resistance to rust.
Installation of the unit can be accomplished in about four hours when attaching to a completed trailer.
Once installed, the drive rollers are engaged against the tires using a
cam lock and spring mechanism. Engaging the rollers is almost effortless
using the special wrench. The rotation of the drive rollers against the
tire is 1 to 1 so there is absolutely no wear on the tire from using this
equipment. The drive rollers are coated with a large
grit epoxy coating that is almost indestructible.
How is the Powrtouch attached to a RV chassis?
This can be best explained with a series of pictures.
Here is a completed installation:
This installation, though done in the UK, is very similar to installations
on American and Canadian RV trailers in that it has required the use of
side plates which have been bolted to the frame of the trailer. The
purpose of side plates is to provide the proper alignment of the drive
rollers with the wheel axle hub for optimal performance.
Here is another view, this time an installation on a bare RV chassis. In
this installation, side plates were not required.
This particular installation also took place in the United Kingdom at a RV
factory. The RV manufacturer has chosen to offer the Powrtouch as a
factory supplied option due to the immense popularity of this unique
product in the UK and Europe.
Here is a close-up of the motor and drive roller assembly.
What does a finished installation look like?
When you view a Powrtouch equipped RV from the side, you have to look very
closely to even know it is equipped with a Powrtouch. Here is a finished
installation.
Yes, you have to look very close to see the installed Powrtouch on
this trailer (see inset picture). The yellow arrow has been drawn to aid
your seeing it.
Can tandem axle trailers be moved with the Powrtouch?
The previous pictures have only shown single axle trailers but Powrwheel,
Ltd. in the United Kingdom has perfected the use of the Powrtouch on tandem
axle trailers. Here is a recent installation completed in the UK.
How much weight can a Powrtouch handle?
The weight limitation for the Powrtouch is a maximum of 3 tons or 6,000
pounds on a level surface. Performance of the unit is directly affected by
the grade or slope of the surface over which you are traveling due to the
effect of gravity. This means a lighter weight RV will handle a much
steeper grade than a heavier trailer. However it much be remembered that
no two surface conditions and grade are identical.
Therefore, we can only give you a general idea or estimate as to expected
performance under your unique circumstances. When moving over grass,
gravel or other non-paved type surfaces, your particular soil conditions
will affect the performance of your Powrtouch under those conditions.
Powrtouch Optional Items Available from Power Wheel USA
The Powrbar
The drive rollers of the Powrtouch are engaged or locked against the tires
of your RV by means of a lug wrench much like the lug wrench used in
changing the tires on your automobile. The rollers are engaged
individually with our patented cam and lock system.
Power Wheel USA offers the Powrbar
Ò which
connects both roller locking lugs together so that the rollers can be
engaged or disengaged from either side of the RV. This is particularly
useful when there is limited access to one side of your RV.

The Bradley Jockey Wheel
The Powrtouch can only be used when a jockey wheel is attached to the
front or tongue of your RV. The performance of your Powrtouch is greatly
enhanced by the quality of the front jockey wheel. Most jockey wheels
found in the United States are of mediocre quality.
Power Wheel USA offers the finest heavy duty jockey wheel available in the
world today. It's from Bradley Doublelock, Ltd of the United Kingdom. This
jockey wheel is capable of handling tongue weights up to 700 pounds while
giving solid and reliable performance. A solid cast locking clamp is
mounted to your trailer tongue and then the heavy duty serrated jockey
wheel is positioned to fit your individual trailer.
This outstanding product is available from Power Wheel USA.
Can Powrtouch units be installed on your RV?
For the present, Power Wheel USA can only offer installation of this
product in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area and we will schedule an
